What personal data we process, on what legal basis, who we share it with and how to exercise your rights.
Last updated: 25 October 2026.
Terra Alta Uyuni cares about your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we process when you visit terraaltauyuni.com, write to us or book a tour, what we use it for and what rights you have.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Terra Alta S.R.L. (NIT 708893027), owner of the Terra Alta Uyuni brand, an inbound tour operator and travel agency in Bolivia. Contact for any privacy matter: hola@terraaltabolivia.com.
2. Data we collect
- Data you give us: name, email, phone or WhatsApp, country of residence and nationality, travel dates and itinerary, number of travellers and their ages, and any information you choose to share to organise the trip (diet, health, mobility). We ask for passport details (number, nationality and validity) and, where relevant, your date of entry and the number of days your visa allows, to check that the passport is valid and that you meet the entry and stay conditions in Bolivia under the applicable Bolivian rules, and for hotels, protected-area entrance fees or formalities. Without this check we cannot guarantee that the services will be delivered.
- Booking and payment data: your booking history and payment details, handled through the WeTravel platform (group departures) or the payment providers we use: Revolut, Libélula, RedEnlace and Banco BISA, depending on the method you choose.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and visit length, collected by the site’s hosting provider and by statistics tools (if you accept them).
- Messages: the content of your messages by email or WhatsApp.
3. What we use it for and the legal basis
- Answering your questions and preparing your quote (at your request, or to take pre-contractual steps).
- Managing your booking and organising the tour, including communication with guides, drivers and accommodations (performance of the contract).
- Checking your travel documents (passport and visa) so that we can deliver the service (performance of the contract and legal obligation).
- Meeting legal, accounting and tax obligations (legal obligation).
- Safety and support during the trip, including emergency handling (vital interests and performance of the contract).
- Site statistics, to understand which pages are read and improve them (your consent, which you can give or withdraw at any time in the cookie banner).
- Protecting the site and preventing abuse (legitimate interest).
We do not sell your personal data or use it for targeted advertising. We do not make automated decisions that significantly affect you.
4. Who we share it with
- Trip providers: guides, drivers, hotels and lodges involved in your tour, with only the data needed for each service.
- WeTravel (USA), the booking and payment platform for our group departures.
- Payment providers: Revolut, Libélula, RedEnlace and Banco BISA, depending on the payment method you choose.
- Automattic / WordPress.com (USA), which hosts the site and provides statistics and performance measurement.
- Google (Google Analytics, through Site Kit), only if you accept statistics cookies.
- WhatsApp (Meta), when you write to us on that channel.
- Authorities, when a rule requires it.
These providers process data on our behalf or as independent controllers, depending on the case, and have their own privacy policies.
5. International transfers
Terra Alta Uyuni operates from Bolivia and some providers are in the USA or other countries. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, your data may leave your region. Where needed, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer (for example, standard contractual clauses) and share only the data that is strictly necessary.
6. How long we keep it
We keep data for as long as needed to handle your request and deliver the service, then for the periods required by applicable accounting, tax and limitation rules. Passport data is kept only as long as needed to check documents and organise the tour, applying the GDPR storage limitation principle, and is then deleted. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
7. Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, its correction or deletion, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a structured format (portability) and to withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to hola@terraaltabolivia.com. We will reply within a reasonable time.

8. Cookies
We use technical cookies and, only with your consent, statistics cookies. You can change your choice at any time from the “Manage cookies” link in the footer. Details in the cookie policy. The site treats your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal as a refusal of statistics cookies. We do not respond to “Do Not Track” signals, but your choice in the banner is always respected.
