When to go

You can go all year, and each season shows a different salt flat. No date guarantees the weather.

  • Dry season (April to November)

Firm salt. The flat is a hexagonal salt mosaic to the horizon and the lagoon circuit is more comfortable.

  • Rains (late December to early April)

Mirror effect possible. A thin layer of water can reflect the sky and erase the horizon. It depends on each year's water and is not guaranteed. Some sections may close and Isla Incahuasi may be out of reach.

  • Cold (May to July)

Freezing nights. Nights can drop below -10 °C. By day, in the sun, it is far more bearable.

Sunset time changes with the season.

Dates and figures follow each tour page. The exact season changes from year to year.
